Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane has retired from the French national team today.

The 2018 world champion announced on his social networks that he is ending his career in the national team. Varan wrote a letter in which he explained that he was giving way to the young.

“Representing our great country was perhaps the greatest honor in my life. I will never forget how we brought the World Cup home. I still feel all the emotions that I experienced that day.

I will definitely miss these moments. But it’s time for a new generation to take my place. We have talented young players who deserve a chance,” wrote Rafael.

Note that the 29-year-old football player became the fourth player in history who managed to win the World Cup and the Champions League in one season. On July 15, 2018, Rafael became the world champion by winning the world championship in Russia. France defeated the Croatians 4-2 in the final.
